"Tale of the Despereaux" Party

Monday, December 15, 2008, 7:15-8:00 P.M.

Let's Celebrate the soon to be a new movie Newbery-Winning Book "The Tale of Despereaux", by Kate DiCamillo! Read the book first and join us at a fun party to talk about this fantastic book, play a game or two, enjoy refreshments, and take home some fun information about the upcoming movie!

For Children ages 6 and up! Read the book first (or have someone read it to you, or with you) and join us for a fun evening!

Sign-Up at the front circulation desk of the library beginning Monday, Dec. 1, 2008. Space is Limited.

For kids 6 and up. Read any book from the Dan Gutman series “My Weird School” and discuss it with us.

Fairy Party

For kids ages 6-9. Read any Fairy book by Daisy Meadows & come talk about it with us. Come in your finest “Fairy garb”. Hand outs and a craft!

Travel the world in 2008!

Attention All Children Ages 5 and up! Our club will introduce you to world cultures and customs! Join us on our trips! Each month in 2008 we will visit a country and discover fascinating facts about such things as language, art, music, food, and traditions. We'll have guest visitors and presenters native to the particular country if possible. We will enjoy eating foods native to the country, learn a dance step or two, and speak some of the native language as well! Stories will be shared, music will be listened to, and we'll observe artifacts, clothing, and more as we learn about worlds diverse and intriguing!

Each child will receive a passport and stamp for each program attended. In the Storyhour Room of Upper Dublin Public Library. Please join us!

  • January 15: Sweden  
  • February 18: Switzerland                               
  • March 18: Ireland    
  • April 15: England

Our most popular book discussion group for children currently in grades 2 or 3

Join us on two dates this Fall!

  • Monday, Oct. 13, 2008- 7:15-8:00 p.m.
  • Monday, Nov. 17, 2008- 7:15-8:00 P.M.

We'll all read the same book, meet in the storyhour room to discuss it, and enjoy light refreshments, too! Paperback copies of the books will be available to check out prior to the meeting dates.
